About the Author

Wendy Gilligan is an author whose writing is deeply rooted in her extensive career in education. With over 30 years of experience, Wendy has taught across various settings, including regular classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 8 (K-8) and Special Education. She also served as a Teacher Librarian, assisting students in identifying their unique learning styles.

Drawing inspiration from these decades in the classroom, Wendy created the beloved “Pine Valley Pals” series of Social Story Picture Books. These stories are based on the real-life experiences and unique personalities of former students, giving the characters a genuine depth.

Her purpose in writing is clear: to equip children with essential coping skills. Her stories are specifically designed to help children become more aware of their environments and build independent problem-solving and self-regulation skills. She hopes to make a lasting, positive impact on parents, students, and educators by promoting a supportive and understanding approach to learning.

Wendy is committed to continuing to tell stories that matter and welcomes educators’ feedback on scenarios their students have experienced.
